Hensley Stands Strong for First Frost Win Against Torrent in Seattle’s Home Opener
The Seattle Torrent, looking for their first win of the season, took the ice at Climate Pledge Arena for the first time ever on November 28, 2025 in a matchup against the Minnesota Frost.
Minnesota started the game with control but Seattle quickly worked their way into the Frost’s zone, earning a few shots on Nicole Hensley. The Torrent kept the pressure on Hensley for most of the period.
Following a sneaky zone entry by Kendall Coyne Schofield, a shot from Kelly Pannek was seemingly deflected off Mariah Keopple and behind the glove of Schroeder. The late goal by Minnesota carried momentum into the second period.
The Frost looked composed and controlled in the second. Even when they lost control of the puck, their communication seemed to enable them to win the puck back. At 7:46, Lexie Adzija took a two-minute interference penalty. Although Minnesota was unable to score on the advantage, they would be granted another opportunity at 12:47 when Danielle Serdachny would sit for two minutes for tripping.
The Frost dominated the ice throughout the play, despite not scoring another goal.
The Torrent were finally given some reprieve when Taylor Heise took a penalty at 3:53 into the third period. Seattle managed five shots on net during the advantage, but Hensley stood strong. Seattle continued their attack but just could not convert.
Pannek would go on to score again at 9:48 in the third, following a poor neutral zone play by Natalie Snodgrass.
Before the Torrent would get the chance to add an extra attacker, a hooking penalty by Julia Gosling would seal the deal. Grace Zumwinkle netted her first goal of the season on the power play, scoring the third and final goal of the game for the Frost.
Hensley finished the game with 30 saves to earn her first shut out of the 2025-2026 season. This would also serve as the reigning Walter Cup Champions’ first win of the season.
The Torrent’s next game will be on December 3 against the New York Sirens, where they will once again look for their first win.
